    1. What is Gigya?
Gigya provides widget creators with our simple Wildfire tools to help distribute, track and monetize widgets across social networks and blogs. Our tools will help increase the viral distribution of your content. Gigya's tools are fully customizable, free and easy to integrate within any web page.

    2. Is it really free?
Yes! Gigya distribution and tracking tools are free. We do not charge a premium for any of our tools.

    3. If all of this is free, then how does Gigya make money?
In the near future Gigya will announce additional features for widget providers that will allow our partners to better monetize their widget traffic. If our partners choose to utilize these additional features, they will share a portion of their revenues with Gigya. We will announce these services shortly. Stay tuned!

    4. How do I start?
To start using the Gigya tools, add our Quick Posting interface to the page where you provide your users with the embeddable widget code. By using our Quick Posting tool as the distribution mechanism, we will also be able to provide you with real time reporting. To get started, click here.

    5. What type of reports can I get on my posted widgets?
We provide several online reports to help you better understand, improve and optimize the performance of your widgets.
    • Posts – number of times a widget was posted
    • Wildfire loads – the number of times the Quick Posting interface was loaded.
    • Posts / loads – the ratio between the Quick Posting interface loads and number of posts.
    • Impressions in profile – the number of times your widgets were viewed on the pages they were posted on. Note: Facebook does not allow for measuring impressions of widgets on the user profile.
    • Stickiness – the ratio between daily profile impressions and daily posts. Higher numbers suggest widgets stays longer on page.
Please note that this measure becomes relevant only after a while.
    • Posts by Social Network – The number of posts per social network for the entire chosen date rate.

    6. For which networks do you provide the ability to do "quick posting"?
We currently support quick posting to: MySpace, Facebook, Hi5, Friendster, Xanga, LiveJournal, FreeWebs, Blogger, Tagged, TypePad, Bebo, and BlackPlanet.

    7. How do I set the Quick Posting tool on my site?
It's simple! Go to the Get Wildfire tab. Then, decide whether you want to have the entire interface of the Quick Posting tool on your page or if you'd prefer a button that opens the interface in a new window. Next, customize the size, color, fonts and other features of the interface. Last, you will get a code to place on your site.

    8. How do I "tell" the Quick Posting tool what code to post?
In order to provide the Quick Posting tool with the embeddable code:
    • First, you need to have that code in a TEXTAREA control on the page. For most partners, this TEXTAREA already exists for the user to manual copy the code from.
    • Next, you need to make sure this TEXTAREA has an ID (e.g. <TEXTAREA id="TEXTAREA_ID"> …)
    • Last, in the code we provide you with, set the default content parameter to the ID or the TEXTAREA. (i.e. parameter defaultContent: "TEXTAREA_ID")

    9. Should I hide my code TEXTAREA and use the one on the Quick Posting tool?
Yes – the best practice is to hide the TEXTAREA. This allows us to provide you with online reports on both manual and quick postings. Please note that you are probably using this TEXTAREA to "tell" the Quick Posting tool what code to post so do not remove it – simple hide it using the "display:none" style. To hide your textarea add the following in your textarea tag: style="display:none"

    10. How can I customize the look and feel of the Quick Posting tool?
To customize the Quick Posting tool, go to the Get Wildfire section of our website. There you will find an on-line customization tool that allows you to choose different colors and fonts for the various elements of the interface.

    11. Will my widget work on Facebook F8 platform when I use Gigya?
Yes! For those of you who do not have a dedicated Facebook application, Gigya has done all the hard work. When you provide us with the embeddable code we can post your widgets directly into the users profile using our generic "My Stuff" Facebook application. This application takes advantage of the various social viral features on Facebook, allowing users to share your widget with their Facebook friends, etc.

If you already have a Facebook application you can customize our Quick Posting tool to send the user to the page where he/she can add your application to their Facebook profile

    12. How does Gigya ensure the privacy of its users?
We have a very clear privacy philosophy at Gigya. We believe that users own their data and that users should be able to share and collaborate using our system in a secure, hosted environment. Please see our Privacy Policy for information about our policies and procedures regarding the collection, use and disclosure of information we receive from Gigya users.

    13. Can you give me some tips regarding best practices for creating a widget?
Since widgets can be embedded in different environments, there are few important issues that a widget creator should be aware of. We gathered them in one of our forum sections, and we keep updating them. Please visit: http://forum.gigya.com/forum/default.aspx?g=topics&f=12
